the monsters

March 2086. Justin Kim is 26. Willow and Lily are 4.

"Don't worry," he said. "I'm here. I'll never let the monsters get you."

notes: It's the cutest thing ever, right? The monsters under the bed are from a free update and the whole thing is just really adorable. (Ugh, so it only took them two years to finally start adding some decent family play!) But the whole interaction is just really sweet—the kids waking each other up, the scardy dance, going to get a parent, the monster spray, and then hugs all around when it's all over. Precious! <3

Sorry about the sparse story updates lately. June was packed full of travel and appointments and end of the school year stuff for me. July is looking a little more leisurely though, so I'm hoping to crank out a few more chapters soon.

  1. Did you buy the pack also? The puppet theatre is sickeningly cute- but in general I think the pack/update is really good quality (but maybe a little low in quantity).

    1. I do have the pack! (I have all of them, lol!) I haven't gotten around to playing with the puppets yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I can't wait for my elementary schools to put on a puppet show in their classrooms! :)

  2. Ok- this is my third attempt to comment... aargh! So feel free to delete them if they made it through. I agree, the monster interactions are really cute and I really liked the CAS and build items from the kid's stuff pack, even more than the new interactions, even though they're ok. I thought Justin's expression in the first screencap he was in was great.

    1. Yikes! So sorry my blog ate your comments! I didn't see the others come through at all.

I like the CAS items and furniture, too! I've already been through all of my 9-11 year-olds to update their outfits to look more tweeny. Although it worries me that the tweenyness of this pack might be a clue that we're not going to get real tweens some day. :(

The expressions are so great! I love Willow's face too when she's stood behind him with her fists balled, like she's got some words for that meany-head monster now that Justin is here. <3

  3. My internet was acting up, I'm sure it was the culprit. But I was worried you might get three copies of the comment.

The same thing occurred to me, with this pack being, as you say, "tweeny," that may mean we are never getting tweens. I keep thinking, why does FreePlay get toddlers, weather, and tweens, and we don't!! But FreePlay probably makes WAY more money than Sims 4.

    1. That is a sad possibility. SFP is a huge money grab (even though it's called FREEplay), so I would not be at all surprised if it was a higher priority for them than TS4. Never used to be that way with the other generations of Sims, but now I guess tons of people would rather play a mobile game. No thanks, not me. :(

    2. SFP is probably not as complicated either, in terms of coding. It's a pretty superficial sort of game, just like 99% of all mobile games. I would bet that's the main reason they've added toddlers to that and not to TS4.

Doesn't excuse the lack of toddlers in TS4, of course. It's ridiculous that you don't have them at this point, especially considering they claimed the only reason they didn't add them to the base game is because they wanted to take the time to get them right. They've had how long to do that now?

  4. Aww, that is a really cute interaction! I'm glad Justin could console the girls - hopefully enough to get them back to sleep, lol!

    1. I love it. I kind of hope they tune it down just a little though, because the monsters come a lot! People have already made mods to stop them, but I don't want them to stop completely. Taken down about 75% would be good, lol!
