The Stories

Postcards from Sierra Nova is a sequel to my long-running TS2 neighborhood story, Lakeside Heights. Beginning in the year 2084, this story follows the interwoven families of Lake County, Michigan, as they are split and scattered across the country. Just prior to the beginning of this blog, planet Earth had been pulled into its first extraterrestrial war. We will follow both the characters who journey out to fight the invaders, as well as those who are left at home.

In the years that follow the war, the families resume their everyday dramas in stories that explore friendship, romance, self-discovery, and all the joys and heartaches that make up life.

Each “round” covers roughly two years of the story timeline. Most often, each round features one major storyline, with many minor short stories woven into the narrative. Some characters will continue from one round into next, either as supporting characters in the next storyline, or as main characters in another story of their own. On and on through the years and generations. Like a legacy story, but at a snail’s pace! 😁

round 2084-86 stories, aka Drown (Justin & Stephanie stories): 

about: Earth has been pulled into its first extraterrestrial war. Justin and Stephanie are two childhood friends who begin to see each other in a new light as the world around them falls apart.

round 2088-90 stories (Boxes & Squares saga, Jordan/Maria/Colette stories):

about: an ensemble drama series about a wandering group of misfits trying to live their lives boldly, no matter the consequences. Jordan wants to escape, Maria just wants to love him, Colette wants to crucify him, and Ingrid is just playing games… probably. New friends and lovers enter the picture, highlighting the messy and beautiful connections between imperfect people as they search for adventure, love, belonging, forgiveness, and what it means to be home.
