happy new year, 2086!

Happy New Year, 2086! Stephanie is 26, Justin is 25, Jeremiah is 28, Willow and Lily are 3. Alice is 64, Jeremy is 69, Bryson is 64.

It's New Year's Eve and Stephanie feels terrible. She won't be able to drink anything tonight and she doubts that she'll even make it to midnight before she passes out.

Does Justin feel a little bit guilty? Maybe. Proud, too? Probably.

Cursory holiday family photo where most of them refuse to look at the camera.

Sweeties, being sweet.

All three sets of grandparents are in attendance for the evening, even though Keri is still out in space for a few more weeks. If the kids are willing, they would like to make an effort to have all of the divorced children and their parents remain involved. Although, that's an easy situation to idealize with Keri still out in space. Justin is lucky enough already to still get along so well with his soon to be ex-father-in-law.

Grandmas getting their drink on.

Alice did mention that Jeremiah would be theoretically welcome to join them for the holidays, although nobody expected him to actually show up. He did show up. But he didn't cause much more trouble than a few sharp glares in Justin's general direction since there were three sets of grandparents and scrappy little Tyler Jackson from down the street who came home from the war and isn't so scrappy anymore.

Stephanie still felt uneasy about Jeremiah being there.

Although she's just feeling bad in general, too.

Justin checks up on her to make sure she's okay. They're trying to keep the news a secret for a while longer, at least until Jeremiah goes to South Carolina.

Sweeties, being sweet.

Happy girlies in their party dresses.

Drunk grandma Cindy and her bad dancing.

Jeremiah would like everyone to notice, for the record, that Justin and Stephanie have been sickeningly sweet in front of him for the whole night and he's not freaking out about it. He can be reasonable, he says as he grumbles into his drink.

He slips out of the party unnoticed at some point. He doesn't say goodbye to anyone. Not even Willow.

A quiet chat in the kitchen. Willow looks dazed and happy due to too much sugar and being up past her bedtime. Cynthia and Robert left the party next, taking the girls back home with them.

Jeremy thinks his wife has had a few too many cocktails. She's telling renegade stories about juicy scandal on the school board. Bryson is intrigued. He never knew that the school board was so scandalous.

Justin and Stephanie have everybody feeling lovey-dovey. Bryson can't help himself. He must tell Alice how fetching she looks tonight. Maybe it's because she's had so many cocktails or maybe it's the spirit of the festivities, she feels quite flattered by the compliment and thanks him kindly.

Sweeties, being sweet.

Where are you two sneaking off to?...

Well, they might as well. She can't get any more pregnant than she already is.

Justin is proud of his work.

Stephanie concedes to the new year at 11:55. She'll celebrate some more in the morning. Over the toilet, probably.

Now that everyone has left the party except Bryson, Jeremy is a little bit done with this holiday.

It's time to go home.

Everyone assumed that there would be trouble between the kids and all of their divorces, but the kids behaved themselves quite reasonably tonight. Instead, Alice was the hot commodity with her striking young-for-her-age sixty-four year-old face.

"It pays to always wear a good sunscreen," Alice says.

Happy New Year, 2086!

footnotes: the time Robert told Alice how lovely she looked and it didn't go over as well

notes: OMG the auto flirting in this game will be the death of me! Either that, or Alice is just that hot that they can't help themselves because, come to think of it, she's the only one this happens to, lol!

To be fair though, I don't really think "compliment appearance" should get SUCH a negative jealous reaction from partners every time, especially for sims who don't have the jealous trait. So what if all the grandpas want to tell Alice how lovely she is? She is a lovely lady! And it's not like she's sneaking them off to the closet for a quickie or anything.

  1. Ha, this was cute. Justin and Stephanie really are adorable. <3 I'm glad Jeremiah could behave himself for the duration of the party, though leaving without saying goodbye to his daughter was kind of shitty!

Sims have always been weird about jealousy, in all the games. TS2 sims will fly into rage over a hug or a peck, yet backrubs are apparently a totally platonic interaction.

    1. I'm glad you enjoyed it! I had a ton of fun with these guys. Sometimes you just gotta let them have a night off from all the angst and drama, you know? lol!

Right, jealous sims have never really made much sense without mods.

  2. Ha, that is so funny, "it pays to wear sunscreen!" That is one of my pet peeves getting Simdale Valley set up-- my middle aged sims look so young since they were made in CAS. But you made some CC wrinkles and age spots, I think?

Justin cracked me up with his proud self, and I was happy to see Jeremiah not being outwardly too mean tonight, although if he acted up more maybe they would be able to keep him away more.

    It was a fun update!

    1. Yes! My wrinkles are here. I feel like I want to go over that set again and add even more swatches, which I probably will, but I won't be able to work on that for a while. It's true, the adults hardly look different from the YAs at all, and that's not to mention that the teens hardly look different from the YAs. Ugh.

CC works well enough for visual differences, but I'm hoping at least if/when we get a Generations EP, we might get some interesting gameplay between the ages. I liked how the TS3 Generations EP brought the midlife crisis and senior walking canes and teen mood swings and driving. That was fun!

Glad you enjoyed the story! :)

  3. Justin... proud of himself!! Oh my! His chest is all puffed up, what a dork!! I can't believe that this party went off without drama, wow. And Stephanie and Justin were pretty affectionate out there, which would/could have been a big scene.

Willow looks a ton like her Dad, when she's up late at the table, she looks a ton like him (expression wise), clearly she has his coloring etc. :) Can't wait to see what they have! Agree on waiting until Jeremiah is in SC to announce the pregnancy.

    1. Ha ha, like all men don't do that after a good romp and we've already fallen asleep! lol!

Willow, having peeked at her grown up, is probably about 75% Jeremiah. But there is some from Stephanie in her jaw and mouth. Jeremiah makes lovely children, though. Shame he's such a creep!
