  1. Hi Laura. I've been reading all of your gameplay notes and I was wondering if you would give a brief run-through on how you play your multi-family housing. I tried setting something similar up using locked doors and family clubs, but I found that Sims were still route failing all the time because they kept wanting to use things like sinks and refrigerators in the other unit. Is that something that you just have to deal with or have you figured out some way around it?

    1. Hi Regina,

I'm playing mine pretty much exactly how you're playing yours. I don't use clubs, just the "allow access to..." for each sim who lives there.

I don't usually have a problem with objects as long as each house has its own necessary things. I think a sim would only complain if they wanted something, like a sink, and there was only one sink on the whole lot behind a locked door.

Also what might be happening, a recent patch made sims stay standing right in front of the refrigerators when they take a plate of food, rather than going to sit down somewhere. That does block the way for other sims, so I suppose they might try for a fridge in another house because theirs is blocked and route fail because the door was locked.

The only other trouble I have is sims autonomously wanting to talk to other sims who are inside their locked houses. They don't route fail, but they will stand outside the locked door like a creeper, lol!

There is a new door lock mod out that looks promising. It allows you to unlock doors for several sims at a time, and for visitors who don't live in the household, and I am really looking forward to that.
